I could think of no better way to describe the poor Weasley family post-DH than simply that: Fredless.
This was honestly the hardest-hitting human death for me in Deathly Hallows (Dobby and Hedwig? Oh, tears!), and the family's grief was just leaping out of the page at me. I could see it so vividly in my head. I imagine George feels lost, a bit numb and shocked. The women -- Ginny, Molly, Fleur -- are all the most visibly upset.
The actual sketching took the longest; I put more work into that than the actual coloring. For that, I opted for a muddied sort of feel, with the brightest and most vibrant colors being the trademark red hair and Fred's Gryffindor cloak.
And as a sidenote, I really love how Charlie came out.
ETA: I completely forgot to add this in my description, but yes, Ron's not quite there yet. I had originally intended to make him a shadow in the background, heading toward his family, but that wasn't the way I envisioned it originally. When I thought about the family gathering around Fred, I imagined seeing them from behind, through Harry's eyes. And across the room, Ron -- I couldn't even begin to describe the sadness as he sees his family and slowly heads over to grieve with them. But yeah, so that's why there is no Ron! I suppose this would be his point of view!

Beautiful- and sad. And I think your pic touched more than JKR words. You are right on what you said about Dobby and Hedwig- those were the only deaths that I feel sorry/sadness too.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
